Amitabh’s research involves high-performance computer graphics and visualization, particularly as applied to virtual and augmented reality. The results of his research inform such diverse areas as medical imaging and telemedicine, drug design, climate modeling, plasma physics, nano-manufacturing, gene sequencing, and the creative arts. Amitabh is an elected fellow of IEEE, and a recipient of its Achievement Award. He also earned an NSF CAREER Award, and his research collaborations with industry and government agencies are extensive.
