Daniel Schwartz is the CEO of Porticus. Porticus is committed to promoting social justice, human dignity and sustainability around the world.
A member of its Supervisory Board since 2011, Mr. Schwartz was appointed CEO in November 2015. He is responsible for managing regional operations in 12 countries supporting more than 2000 programs and projects in 90 countries.
With more than two-decades worth of experience, Mr. Schwartz is a leader in the nonprofit, philanthropy and corporate sectors, specializing in multi-stakeholder engagements and public-private partnerships. Co-founder and chairman of Dynamica, Inc., a philanthropic foundation and multi-family office, he advises some of the world’s most generous philanthropists.
He is the former Executive Director of the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity, which hosts an annual conference of Nobel Laureates, and co-creator of Arbinet, one of the world’s largest telecommunications bandwidth exchanges.
Listed as one of Crain’s New York Business’ “40 under 40” emerging business leaders, Mr. Schwartz was selected as one of the 100 Global Leaders for Tomorrow by the World Economic Forum (WEF). He is active in World Economic Forum Young Global Leaders community, serving as a chair of the Sustainable Development Goals Advisory Council. Black Ink, the American Express Centurion cardholders’ magazine, called him one of the nation’s most influential philanthropists.
Schwartz, a frequent speaker, contributor and author on the subject of effective global philanthropy, political strategy, and entrepreneurship, has been a featured speaker at TEDx, the UBS Philanthropy Forum, the WEF Annual Event in Davos and its Young Presidents’ Organization, McKinsey & Co., Yale College, the Rockefeller Foundation-Bellagio, and The Prince Bernhard Fund for Nature.
Daniel received his A.B. in Economics at Harvard College and his A.M. in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations from Harvard University.
