Medical Student, Columbia University
Gabrielle Loeb is a medical student at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, graduating in 2018 and planning to specialize in interventional radiology. She received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University. Following her clinical rotation in interventional radiology, she initiated a research project to develop an augmented reality system that uses previously acquired patient-specific imaging to help physicians visualize and navigate through their patients’ blood vessels during vascular interventions. This multi-disciplinary effort, in collaboration with physicians at Columbia University Medical Center / NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, is being conducted in Professor Steven Feiner’s Computer Graphics and User Interfaces lab and is supported by a Dean’s Research Fellowship and a grant from the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science. She is passionate about her research and about the potential of augmented reality to enhance patient care.
