Gareb Shamus is the Chief Creative Officer of Status Media, a new entertainment company created to incubate media properties. We’re currently targeting four verticals including Apps, Consumer Products, Reality TV Shows and Building Character Franchises for Film and TV.
Gareb Shamus founded and built Wizard World, an event producer of Comic Cons and pop-culture conventions across North America.
Gareb is one of the most recognized leaders and authorities in the character based genres of movies, TV, comic books, toys, gaming, and popular fiction.
Mr. Shamus founded and published Wizard, ToyFare, Anime Insider, InQuest Gamer and Toy Wishes magazines for almost two decades. These magazines were considered the bibles on comic books, toys, games, animation, artists, writers, action figures and everything to do with the development of character franchises into movies, TV, video games, toys and all pop-culture.
In addition, Gareb is a co-founder of PGM Media, which owned Nerdist Industries, which was sold to Legendary Pictures (Batman, Hangover, and Clash of the Titans movies) in July 2012.
From 2005 to 2008, Gareb launched and ran a professional Mixed Martial Arts fighting league, with approximately 100 fighters under contract. During that time, he produced 20 live fighting events all over the country, where it was broadcast weekly on TV in over 100 million homes on MyNetworkTV (owned by FOX) and Fox Sports Net.
